Opera Mini – Free is (almost) just as good as expensive
Ok, so if you’re anything like me … free is the way to be. I’ve got enough going out of my wallet without having to pay for all kinds of software for my PPC. Enter my recent find, which it appears everyone but me knows about. Ok, well hopefully me and a few of you, otherwise this is going to be a waste of space on the website!!
Opera for PPC is a great application, so please don’t get it in your head that I’m in any way trying to say it’s not, but given the price tag its way to costly for the amount of browsing I do on my 8125. So, enter Opera Mini 2.0. This little app is a free browser add-on for mobiles that are capable of running Java Mobile Applications. Luckily my 8125 can do just that… Installation is so simple it really isn’t worth going into detail on it. I’ll just point you to the correct page and let you grab this little gem on your own.
I’ve been running it for a couple days now, and its very cool. Give it a try, you might just be surprised!

Just gave this a quick try on my 8125. Very nice, fast. One annoyance so far (and quite possibly due to user error late at night) – it doesn’t play nice with the Soft Keys? Seems to force you to touch the screen to access those menus? I’m missing something obvious to alter that I guess …

Since its made for smartphones, I would imagine that the Java code isn’t cable of using the smartketys or they didn’t code it to use them. Eitherway, I don’t think you’re missing anything, it just can’t do it.
