Quick Tip: See Wizard’s (Cingular 8125) Keyboard Mode

Ok, so this tip is pretty much stolen from the MoDaCo forums, but this is one of the handiest little hacks I’ve seen in a while and the more people that get a chance to see it the better since I know its making me a lot happier with my 8125.

So without further ado …

To enable the Cap/Shift and Dot indicator on the screen when typing:

- Using your favorite Registry Editor for Windows Mobile, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelKeybd
- Create a DWORD called EnableIndicator with value of "1" (without the quotation marks)
- Save changes and exit the registry editor
- Power off your device (do not soft-reset it at this point–unwritten changes are still cached in RAM and powering off will flush them to ROM)
- Soft-reset your device (by inserting the stylus into the reset button hole)

Also, I noticed there’s a Keyboard Trick in Tweaks2k2 that is supposed to show the keyboard state. I assume this functionally does the same thing … but since I had enabled this hack prior to noticing the option in Tweaks2k2, I can’t say for sure.
