More on the upcoming HTC TyTN / Hermes. Was not going to post on this for a while, but just read through a translated version of a PPCReviews rundown on a ‘finalized prototype’of its Qtek 9600 version, and it just looks superb.

It has several very cool use-ability features I had not noticed before – like a whole lot more buttons and better placement of them. The translated article dubs it "quite simply most ergonomic PDAPhone of the moment." I’m sure that was phrased more elegantly in its original French version, but it still sounds damn good.

Read on for more details and a couple more pics …

I had not realized before that this device is going to feature a roller (wheel). This is a great addition – I’ve always liked these a lot when trying out friends’ Blackberries, and most Blackberry users I know rave about them.

There are also a lot more hardware buttons generally on the device, and they seem to be better placed than those on the Wizard. Power button on the right-hand side now, along with the Comms Manager. And on the left-hand side, the roller and an OK button. The artcile also raves about the improved keyboard – and the overall ease of one-handed use of the new device.

There are some negatives in the piece also – disappointing battery life and the switch to MicroSD format being top of that list. Overall though, with that faster processor and much slicker ergonomics, this looks like a great new Windows Mobile converged device contender.

The translation has some very funny results throughout the article too – I think my favorite is the ‘vitaminized processor’.
