Trial & Error, vs. No Trial IS an Error
Posted by: PatrickJ on Jul 31 2006 - 1,383 views
Is anyone else noticing more and more new Pocket PC / handheld software titles appearing and not offering a Trial version?
This is based on absolutely NO hard research or statistics of any kind. Just a growing impression, something I feel like I’m noticing more often - new software for handhelds with no trial version available.
And that seems … well … strikingly dumb. Especially when the application you’re sizing up is from a brand new or little known vendor.

Cingular to release hw6925 iPAQ and 3125 next week.
Posted by: Brandon Steili on Jul 31 2006 - 1,360 views
Ok - those of you who have been waiting, it looks like it’s time to do your personal happy dance. More info can be had from the fine folks at Mobility Today… but from what I gathered the 3125 (HTC Star Trek) and the iPaq hw6925 will start shipping next week and surprisingly enough will include some decent rebates ($100 & $50 respectively). Looks like my 8125 is going to be staying in my pocket for a while, but here’s hoping this leads to the quick release of the 8125’s replacement!

Sharepoint on Your Mobile Device!

"Every list and library in MOSS 2007 or WSSv3 is capable of hosting ‘Mobile Views’."
Via: Jason Langridge’s Mr. Mobile
Sharepoint 2007 has great mobile support built in, including every list having a default mobile view.
I like Sharepoint more and more, and have clients who are doing really cool things with it - so full mobile support is great news!
Form more details and screenshots, and advice on how to play with this a little, check out:

A Fresh Look at ScreenButton (for PalmOS)
Posted by: admin on Jul 30 2006 - 1,785 views
There are several launchers available (freeware, shareware and trialware) for your PalmOS device. In-fact, this concept has spawned a whole genre of its own, To me, one outstanding launcher stands out in the crowd.
It goes by the rather unimaginative name of "ScreenButton", shortened to "ScrBtn". And it is freeware to boot!
Read on for some views on why ScrBtn is oustanding …

Review - Short Take on TeleTone for PalmOS
Posted by: admin on Jul 30 2006 - 1,337 views
TeleTone is a USD 5.00 utility from ShSh Software that emits DTMF beeps over your mobile phone speaker.
So you ask, "Of what use is this?"
Consider the following scenarios:
- You need to make some calls in a no-service area and you are downgraded to using a landline phone.
- You need to make some calls at work and the contact numbers are in your handheld addressbook (you’d rather the calls were charged to your employer).
Read on for how Teletone fits in and helps in these scenarios …
