“The biggest threat to your network is the smallest device in your user’s hand. Mobile devices pose a serious management challenge”

There’s a very nice short article on the Networkworld.com Systems Management Newsletter space, written by Andi Mann, and covering the serious and growing problem faced by IT management staff, in managing mobile devices, and dealing with security risks they present.

As is pointed out there, there are ever-increasing numbers of smartphones and mobile devices in use by corporate staff in all types of job roles, and the ways that they are connecting to corporate networks and accessing systems are also multiplying all the time – often with little or no policy framework in place to control this access.

More and more articles on this topic are appearing, which seems a good thing to me – as hopefully we’ll all start paying more attention to these topics very soon.
